List Friends of the Children is a volunteer organization that meets on a regular basis to support the educational and social needs of the student population, in addition to supporting the curricular needs of the staff and facility.

This parent organization coordinates numerous activities throughout the school year. We are fortunate to have many parents volunteer to make these activities happen. When we received the National Blue Ribbon Excellence in Education Award, it was noted that one of our strengths was the tremendous volunteer participation on the part of parents and citizens from our coummunity.

Parent volunteers can be found throughout our school; working in classrooms, helping in the media center, and volunteering for special events. Whatever the activity or program, List Elementary parents can be found giving generously of their time and talent!

Many of the activities require just a couple of hours of your time, while others may require more. Listed below are the major activities for the year and a short description of what takes place. Other volunteer opportunities that come up wil be noted in the weekly newsletters. If you are interested in helping with an activity, please indicate so on the form below.

Popcorn Friday: Each Friday through the school year our popcorn poppers fill the halls with the wonderful smell of fresh popcorn. Students may purchase a bag of popcorn for 25 cents. Monies from the popcorn sale help fund the materials for numerous hands-on math and science activities.

Carnival: The carnival in March is a huge event! List School is transformed into a giant carnival. Children purchase tickets for 25 cents a piece and one ticket gets you into any event. This evening requires many volunteers and is lots of fun as well.

Grandparents/Friend Luncheon: This June event celebrates the end of the year by inviting our Grandparents or special guests to lunch. We average about 500 guests for this event. Volunteers are needed to serve drinks. clear tables, and greet guests at the door.

Field Day: This June event is held in the morning from approximately 9:00 until 11:30. Our playground is transformed into a variety of silly games and activites. Students love this event and once again because of our many volunteers, field day is a hit!

Thank you for taking the time to consider volunteering at List. Please indicate which activities you would like to help with, and a chairperson will contact you as we get closer to an event. Coordination of volunteers for events happening later in the school year will often happen through the weekly newsletter.
